Alma is a residential tower located in Barrio Escalante, San José. Due to the important and characteristic architectural language present in the area, a volumetry was developed through horizontal layers composed of various materials that exemplify the variety of architectural styles in the zone. As a contribution to the urban space, a first commercial level is maintained to contribute to the large number of pedestrians that pass through the site. With a design focused on a young target audience, a fresh and technological concept is developed through the incorporation of an automated parking lot and creative furniture inside the apartments that offers the inhabitants to use it, according to their own tastes or needs.

The program combines a street-level commercial floor with residential apartments above, reinforcing the tower’s relationship with Barrio Escalante’s pedestrian and commercial activity. Automated parking supports the compact urban organization, while adaptable furniture within the apartments allows domestic spaces to respond to different routines, preferences, and changing needs.
