ARELA IS A 36-LEVEL RESIDENTIAL TOWER IN SAN BENITO THAT EXPLORES HOW HIGH-RISE LIVING CAN ESTABLISH A CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE. ORGANIZED THROUGH A SEQUENCE OF PLANTED TERRACES, SHARED SPACES, AND PRIVATE RESIDENCES, THE PROJECT BRINGS LANDSCAPE INTO THE VERTICAL STRUCTURE OF THE BUILDING. STRATEGIC SUBTRACTIONS BREAK DOWN THE TOWER'S SCALE, OPEN PANORAMIC VIEWS ACROSS SAN SALVADOR, AND CREATE DISTINCT ENVIRONMENTS FOR COLLECTIVE AND DOMESTIC LIFE. THE RESULT IS A RESIDENTIAL ECOSYSTEM WHERE ARCHITECTURE, VEGETATION, AND THE CITY REMAIN CONTINUOUSLY CONNECTED.

CONCEPT

ARELA is shaped by biophilia as an architectural system rather than an applied aesthetic. The concept operates across three interconnected layers: proximity to vegetation within the residences, integration of planted spaces throughout the building, and immersion in the larger landscape of San Salvador. The tower begins as a compact volume and is progressively carved to form terraces, garden levels, and outdoor rooms.

The architectural language combines pure geometries, restrained spaces, and authentic materials. Horizontal slabs, screens, and deep terraces give the facade depth while moderating exposure. Vegetation softens the building's scale and creates a changing edge between interior and exterior.

ARELA proposes a model of high-rise housing in which density and contact with nature are mutually reinforcing. Within a compact urban site, the project accommodates 147 residences and more than 1,800 m² of amenities while maintaining planted and permeable areas throughout the development.

At the scale of daily life, balconies, gardens, shared rooms, and elevated social spaces form a continuous sequence between home, community, and city.

PROGRAM

The program is organized as a vertical sequence of private, shared, and service spaces. A multi-level base consolidates parking and building operations. Above, 147 apartments are distributed across standard residences, duplexes, and penthouses, with two- and three-bedroom configurations designed around generous living areas and full terraces.

Collective programs are distributed at key levels. Gardens, a pet park, lobby, pool, gym, cinema, children's areas, and event spaces establish a social foundation for the building. Higher above the city, meeting rooms, a chef's kitchen, a sky lounge, and game rooms create a second communal horizon.
