CASA CHAVARRÍA INVERTS THE CONVENTIONAL DOMESTIC EXPERIENCE: ENTERING THE HOUSE MEANS STEPPING OUTSIDE. NATURE IS NOT FRAMED AS A VIEW BUT INHABITED AS A CONSTANT PRESENCE, INTEGRATING CLIMATE, LANDSCAPE, AND SENSORY EXPERIENCE INTO EVERYDAY LIFE.
CONCEPT
An interior garden forms the heart of the house. More than an ornamental element, it organizes the plan, filters natural light, supports cross-ventilation, and creates gradual transitions between shared and private spaces. Nature does not accompany the architecture; it orders it.
Biophilia operates as an integral design strategy rather than an aesthetic gesture. Breathable boundaries, passive climatic responses, concrete, and teak demonstrate how simple architecture can be innovative when grounded in climate, territory, and human experience.
PROGRAM
Deep overhangs protect the house from sun and rain, operable windows maintain airflow, and a porous envelope allows breeze, light, and vegetation to move through the architecture. A handcrafted ventilated clay-brick facade filters light and mediates between public and private space.
